Pikes Peak Jazz Festival 2022

We are happy to announce the return of the Pikes Peak Jazz Festival!

The festival will be held on March 17 & 18 at Vista Ridge High School.

The entry fee is $175.  Checks should be made out to Meeker Music. Your session will include a warm up time, judge’s comments, a recording of your performance, a clinic, an award plaque, and a rating.

Two judges will give recorded comments for your stage performance and one clinician will give your clinic afterward. Each group will have 30 minutes on stage which includes set-up, performance, and tear-down. Please do not program more than 20 minutes of music. It is suggested you play 2-4 charts. Please keep in mind this festival is designed to place the focus on education and not necessarily competition. The clinicians will listen to your performance and follow you into the band room where there will be a thirty-minute clinic. Therefore, your contest time will be 90 minutes (30 minutes each for warm-up, performance, and clinic).

This festival is open to middle school/junior high jazz bands, high school jazz bands, and jazz combos. Music selection should be appropriate for a jazz festival but is ultimately left to the band director’s discretion. Ratings will not be made public.

The festival stage will have an acoustic grand piano (tuned), vibes, and a sound system with up to 10 microphones. There is one bass amp, one guitar amp, and one drum set in the warm-up area, on stage, and in the clinic room. If you require more amps or keyboards, please plan to provide your own.

Only 30 bands will be accepted. If you have a special request for a performance time, please indicate it on your entry form. You will have 30 minutes to warm-up prior to your performance with several stage hands available to assist you in any way needed.

The deadline for the entry form and fees is February 11th, 2022. Click on the link below to download the entry form.
